A Green Glazed Pottery Model of a Watchtower
EASTERN HAN DYNASTY (25 – 220 AD) A square courtyard forms the base of this tower. A dog sits at the entrance, with a figure standing behind the opened and closed doors. A three-story tower stands in the center of the courtyard, with a figure in a stairway entrance on the side wall. There are supporting girders protruding at 45 degrees from each corner, with latticed windows between the struts and four-petaled floral tiles at the roof corners. Two musicians sit on the balcony of the second story and a figure stands inside. Another figure sits on the balcony of the third story with another figure inside. A bird sits at the apex of the roof.
