Year 2000 Project for Manhattan, 2000 This iconic work by Cai Guo-Qiang was exhibited at the 2000 Whitney Biennial as part of his installation "How is Your Feng Shui." Feng shui has been a long time interest and passion of the artist. This sculpture is meant to nullify any bad feng shui. "How Is Your Feng Shui," a specific installation for the 2000 Whitney Biennial, drew on the ancient tenets and contemporary technology in order to spark museum visitor’s curiosity in the spiritual forces within their urban surroundings. The lion, king of all beasts, is known to preside over all negative energies and as a result can cure the bad feng shui of any room.
