A Unique Massive Cloisonné Dragon Fish Censer
QIANLONG MARK, LATE QING – EARLY 20TH CENTURY This unique, massive cloisonné dragon fish censer is boldly styled with a floral motif on the belly of the beast. The large horned dragon head with bulging eyes and open mouth has a flowing green mane. The lid features a ball finial with a dragon chasing a flaming pearl. Comparable items are also referred to as teapot flagons, but as there is no opening in the mouth of this dragon, along with the massive size, I am assuming that this is a censer. Gilt-metal mounted cloisonné enamel 23.5 in. (59.69 cm.) SOLD
