A Pair of Cloisonné Palace Jars with Covers
QIANLONG MARK, LATE QING – EARLY 20th CENTURY This pair of large palace jars features central medallions of a five-clawed dragon in red (a traditional color of good fortune and happiness), and yellow (which represents the Emperor and the imperial family), against a pale blue ground. A lotus and ruyi scroll is repeated across the bottom of each jar with a lotus and ruyi-shaped apron under the neck of each. A similar lotus and scroll design adorn each cover.
