A Painted Pottery Figure of a Prancing Horse
TANG DYNASTY (618-907) The spirited horse is shown with left foreleg raised, head turned to the the right, mouth open and ears high and alert. Its arching neck is carved with a channel for holding a realistic mane and the tail is dressed. There are traces of black, dark red, pink and orange red pigment. Stoneware with painted pigments 18 x 15 in. (45.72 x 38.1 cm.) Oxford Authentication Thermoluminescence test no. C105a46 is consistent with the dating of this lot. PRICE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST
