A Collared Jade Disc in the Shape of a Dragon
SHANG PERIOD, C. (1550 – 1046 BC) This disc with a raised collar is made of dark green to black jade. Traces of earth and red cinnabar powder remain on the surface. An open mouth with small triangular teeth in profile delineate the head of the dragon, while repeated dentil protrusions along the outer edge represent the spine.
