



NORTHERN QI DYNASTY (550-577 AD) Modeled on a shaped base with one foreleg bent under in a kneeling position and the other outstretched, the head held high and slightly turned to one side, covered with a curly mane falling down the curved neck, the back legs still upright below a short curled tail, draped with a delicately painted blanket and bolts of textiles slung between the humps and supported on a wooden frame suspending game and a flask, with finely painted details to the eyes and hair and traces of white and red pigment. Earthenware with painted decoration 17.75 X 15.75 in. (45 x 40 cm.) The result of Oxford Authentication thermoluminescence test no. C205g92 is consistent with the dating of this lot. SOLD
